Royal Ascot 2026: UAE's Elite Stable Godolphin Poised for Historic Campaign at Racing's Crown Jewel
The hallowed turf of Royal Ascot prepares to welcome its most illustrious visitors as the 2026 edition of the world's most prestigious racing festival kicks off on June 17th. For over three centuries, this Berkshire spectacle has represented the perfect marriage of timeless tradition and elite athletic competition - and this year witnesses one of the most formidable UAE contingents ever assembled.
Leading the charge is Godolphin, the legendary racing operation founded by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The stable will unleash an armada of over thirty thoroughbreds wearing their iconic blue silks across Royal Ascot's five-day extravaganza.
"This isn't just another race meeting - it's our Olympics," declares Saeed bin Suroor, Godolphin's most decorated trainer with an astonishing 39 Royal Ascot victories. "When those gates open at Ascot, we're not just running horses - we're carrying the hopes of a nation with deep roots in equestrian excellence."
The Emirati powerhouse comes armed with multiple weapons across every major contest. From Tuesday's Queen Anne Stakes (G1) curtain-raiser to Saturday's Platinum Jubilee Stakes (G1) finale, Godolphin runners will face down challengers from racing strongholds including Ireland, France, Japan and America.
Bin Suroor brings his four-time Champion Trainer pedigree to bear alongside Charlie Appleby - another tactical genius who has steered fifteen winners at this meeting. Together they form a formidable partnership that blends Emirati horsemanship with cutting-edge training methods.
"We've carefully mapped each horse's campaign for this moment," reveals Appleby. "When you see that sea of hats in the Royal Enclosure and hear 'God Save The King', you know you're competing where legends are made."
The financial stakes mirror the prestige: £10.05 million in total prize money including two £1 million showpieces (the Prince Of Wales' Stakes G1) and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes G1). Even supporting races carry minimum purses exceeding £110k - ensuring every contest features championship-caliber competition.
